๐Ÿ“Vegan-ing In… Amsterdam, Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

I LOVE to adventure. When you’re a dirty (Ve) like me, you have to do your research to make sure you get fed when far from home. I’m probably one of the most disorganised people I know but I always plot myself a little map of eats post travel that I’d like to check out.

‘Cos sharing’s caring I’ve created a shiny newย ‘A to V Map.’ section on the site – a handy interactive map featuring all of my favourite finds so far.ย ๐Ÿ˜˜ย

Anyway, to Amsterdam, the land of chasing red lights and gettin’ high as a kite. If ya know what I meanย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Of course the dirty food is all that I’m interested in…

SCREAMING BEANS COFFEE

๐Ÿ“ Singel 276, 1016 AC Amsterdam, Netherlands

Gotta have some sweet caffeine energy to navigate those crazy canals!ย ๐Ÿ™ƒย The Screaming Beans barista was super sweet and really helpful. Much to my surprise, they served Oat milk!ย ๐Ÿ˜ฑย I do like an oaty latte! Sadly, they didn’t have vegan eats but the coffee was ๐Ÿ‘Œย They do what they do well!

VEGABOND

๐Ÿ“ Leliegracht 16, 1015 Amsterdam, Netherlands

He’s a bit of a fancy eat for Dirty Vegazine but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to stockpile delights and grab a snackette from this pretty lunchroom and grocery store!

The menu features pastries, cakes and artisan sandwiches along with smoothies and that health kinda stuff.

To remain true to the junk, Ludz grabbed a couple of damn tasty tofu sausage rolls to munch by the canal. Obviously I stole a cheeky bite.

I also nabbed a Spelt Sandwich with artisan cashew โ€˜ricottaโ€™ with pesto, cherry tomatoes and rocket lettuce.

The pesto cashew ricotta was honestly, to date, the best nut cheese I’ve ever tasted. The sweet tomatoes complimented it perfectly.

On the grocery side, I was overwhelmed by the amount of vegan treats on offer. It really was a treasure trove for the travelling vegan! I grabbed myself a few bits for a picnic later.

VEGAN JUNK FOOD BAR

๐Ÿ“ Staringplein 22, 1054 VL Amsterdam, Netherlands

VJFB is slightly hidden and very much away from the touristy bits, which isn’t a bad thing! We had a nice little walk through Vondelpark on the way to work up an appetite and I’m so glad we did…

Sweet mother of junk food this is the good shit.ย The sheer visual epic-ness alone brought a tear to my eye.

I went for the Original VJFB Burger – plant-based beef, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red, spring & fried onion mix, pickles, jalapeรฑos, VJFB sauce:

Ludz opted for the Golden Crunchy Seaweed Sandwich – crunchy golden seaweed bites, lettuce, tomato, pickles, red, spring & friedย onion mix, seaweed sauce:

The burgers were junk at its finest. Tasting of dreams and dripping with all of the right kinda naughty joy.

Of course we had to grab a couple of sides! Namely, the Loaded Fries -regular fries, shawarma, grated cheese, jalapeรฑos, red, spring & fried onion mix, garlic & spicy VJFB sauces:

JUST LOOK AT THOSE DAMN LOADED FRIES!!!ย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
When in Amsterdam you have to sample the local delicacies so we scored a little tray of veganised Amsterdam Biterballen:

There was such a buzz on arrival that I knew it’d be good but this place is honestly next level. It’s worth the trip to Amsterdam alone!

I liked Vegabond! I didn’t know about this Vegan Junk Food Bar place and we also missed Meatless District (it was open for drinks but not food when we went and we didn’t realize their food hours were limited). We also made it to Golden Temple Veg – I linked to my older blog post on Amsterdam vegan foods if you want to see it!

    1. The Vegan Junk Food Bar is well worth visiting! I was only in the ‘Dam for a day but would have loved to have checked out Meatless District. Definitely up for reading more about your vegan adventures – will hop across to your blog for a little nosey!
