Filthy AF Junk Food.

Right away, Biff’s Jack Shack and Dirty Vegazine seemed like a match made in heaven.

I’d been titillated with a taste of Biff’s junk at Kerb’s Livin On The Veg earlier in the year so when I was invited round for a little more there was no hesitation.

Annoyingly, ’tis the season to develop a massive rotter of a cold but not even the flu gods could keep me away. I dosed up, bundled myself in a duvet and rolled on to Haunt, Stoke Newington where Biff’s Jack Shack currently reside until the end of the year.

The menu featured current fan faves and exciting shiny new shack recruits.

We started with a bang…

Bangin’ Wingz Sharing Platter – Bourbon BBQ Jackfruit Wings + Jackfruit Wingz with Cinnamon Sweet Chilli, Miso Mayo, Nuts, Crispy Onion and Coriander served with Hush Puppies with Whipped Maple Butter, Bourbon Bacon Baked Beans and Sweet Pickles.

A cornucopia of filthy delights. I attacked and happily devoured each tiny lump of joy. The hush puppies were amazing, as a self proclaimed sweetcorn aficionado they were my boys. The wingz were ever awesome of course and I loved the smokey sass of the beans.

I then opted for the ‘New Jack City’ – Stacked Crispy Jackfruit Burger with Seitan Pastrami, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Sweet Pickles, Sauerkraut and Russian Sauce in a Brioche Bun.

You know what, seitan, step down because Jack is back. Loved that seitan itself, though still top stuff, was demoted to second in command as the crispy jackfruit patty stole the show. The creativity of the extra toppings provided a momentary culinary excursion to the Big Apple.

Ludz went for the ‘Samuel Hell Jackson’ – Stacked Crispy Jackfruit Burger with Chipotle Slaw, Maple Chipotle Hot Sauce, Jalapeños, Burger Cheese and BBQ Sauce in a Brioche Bun.

Hot sauce burgers always steal my heart. The maple slaw just made the deal sweeter. This baby for me was a stone cold stunner, I can see why it’s a favourite. DV Burger League contender brilliant, but that’s another story…

Along for the ride came a stack of Vegan AF Poutine – Fries Loaded with Cheese Curds, Porcini Mushroom Gravy, Gnarly Seitan Bacon and Toasted Seeds.

Now that shit was fucking game changing. I can’t tell you enough. Next level chippery. Succulent seitan, rich badass gravy, draped over perfectly cooked fries. Absolute bullseye of a side dish!

By this point, I was full to capacity but knew I had to try the Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding – baked with Sweet Bourbon, served warm with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Comforting, dreamy and just what I needed in my poorly state. I ate way more than I probably should have but, what the hell, it was super tasty stuff.

I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that Biff’s Jack Shack are just screaming out to be made a permanent fixture.
