📍Vegan-ing In… Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺

Welcome to another two part drama as Dirty V scour the globe to bring you the latest in tantalising trip treats. Yes, it’s travel time, the plan: Budapest, Hungary to Vienna, Austria. 🇭🇺🚂 ➡️🇦🇹

With a name like ‘Hungary’ how could we not bring you the lo-down on the capital’s finest finds with which to fill your face.

📍 Budapest, Arany János u. 15, 1051 Hungary

But first, coffee. We got our fix at Espresso Embassy who offer a range of plant milk from almond to oat and even a couple of vegan snacks! It was just a quick fuelling stop so we didn’t eat there but had a fine little oat latte and cappuccino on the lil tables outside.

📍 Budapest, Szent István tér 3, 1051 Hungary

We went for the mesmerisingly crafted rose shaped ice cream but found sooooo much more! Gelarto Rosa was supposed to be a quick snack stop on the way to brunch but, when we saw the menu, we just had to try out their baguettes!

I went for the SCLY sandwich – Pesto, Fresh Tomatoes, Grilled Cashew Mozzarella, Candied Black Olives, Fresh Basil and Sicilian Pistachio Cream.

Ludz had the BDPST sandwich – Smokey Bean Cream, Chickpea Omelet, Fresh Tomatoes, Peppers, Salad and Roasted Sunflower Cream.

Both were pretty damn incredible, super flavoursome and big lads!! Totally worth a visit.

In honesty, I didn’t have space for ice cream but just had to anyway! I mean, look at him!! We shared a Cherry and Mango Sorbet combo. It was cool to see how the super talented guys at GR craft them and, yes, it tasted as gorgeous as it looked.

📍 Budapest, Bank u. 6, 1054 Hungary

We stopped by Great Bistro for a bit lunch. I fancied a sandwich as they looked rather bangin’ on the website but couldn’t see any on the menu so opted for what was on show.

I had Mexican Style Corn Puffs with Sweet Potato Mash and Lime Sour Cream

Ludz went for Dill Squash Stew with Cream served with Corn Puffs and Brown Rice

The cafe is cute and good if you’re up for a bit of home made health!

📍 Budapest, Bank u. 6, 1054 Hungary

Now if you’re travelling to Budapest. This place is a certified MUST EAT. Vegan Garden is a luscious lawn, filled with blossoming vegan street vendors. We got down and dirty with the following fast food fancies…

On the menu at Las Vegans were a range of burgers, both fake meat and plant based. I tried out the Seitan Burger – Grilled Seitan, Grilled Onion, Tomato, Cucumber, Broccoli Sprouts, Vegan ‘Cheddar’ Lollo Rosso and Veganaise. Oh. My. Buns it was THE ONE. I ate it with sauce dripping down my arms and all over my happy little face. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while for sure (keep your eyes on that Burger League…)

Ludz picked up a Fajita Quesadilla from Vexicana – Smoked Cheese stuffed Tortilla with Fajita Veg served with Nachos, Green seasoned Soya Cream and Salsa Dip.

Our greedy little eyes spied a hot dog stand in the corner and it was game over. We took a New York Hot Dog for a spin – Homemade Grilled Sausages, Sauerkraut, Vegan Yoghurt Dressing, Mustard, BBQ sauce and Fried Onion. 🌭

What a titillating trio!!

As we only had a short amount of time in Budapest, it was time to move on all too quickly. We bathed in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath to soak away our dirty junk based sins and prepped to board the train.

Thanks so much to the following instagram heroes for your amazing suggestions: @captainchickpea, @laurethewaffle, @krisz_vegan, @veganhairsalon

Next stop: Vienna!
